Age of Empires II: DE - The Viking Sagas (DLC)

This expansion is for players who already know Age of Empires II and want a new flavor in familiar battles. It is all about northern raids, naval landings and quick skirmishes where you have to think about several fronts at once. The mood is harsh but not heavy, much like old campaigns played with friends around one table. What hooks you: - The first hours go to learning the Danes, Saxons and Varangians, each with its own style and tricks. - The new units shift your usual tactics, especially if you like attacking from the water and pushing cavalry along the flanks. - The three-part campaign tells a connected story instead of a set of loose missions. - The expansion slots right into your current Definitive Edition games, no need to reinstall everything. The unique Danish unit, the Jomsviking, is ideal for these raids as a nimble and hardy infantryman that hurls flaming torches to devastate enemy buildings and ships. Saxons - Construct mighty fortified towns to lock down territory and stand firm against relentless invasions. The Saxon unique unit is the Hearth Troop, a heavy infantryman that opens fights with a ranged javelin before closing in for intense melee combat. Varangians - Fearlessly master waterways, ride down your foes, and leverage mercenary-style flexibility. The Jarl, the Varangian unique unit, is a fearsome axe-hurling cavalryman whose attacks tear through enemy infantry. Leverage the 6 new units across these new civilizations, including 3 shared units: •Varangian Guards - deadly shock infantry who generate gold while fighting and excel at raiding and melee combat. •Mounted Crossbowmen - hard-hitting but slow-firing ranged cavalry who strike fear into infantry armies. •Longships - swift warships that combine potency and versatility. 3 New Campaigns Tracing an Exile’s Rise to Legend Experience the epic saga of Harald Hardrada across three interconnected campaigns - from his cunning exploits across the Mediterranean, his brutal raids along the Danish coast, to his daring invasion of England. Earn renown through the skalds’ tales and fight your way from Scandinavia to the Kyivan Rus and the Byzantine Empire, before staking everything on England’s shores! The Exiled Prince (Vikings & Varangians)- Cast out from Norway, Harald must seek wealth and prestige in foreign lands. But his fierce ambition to reclaim his crown is tested under the shadow of the increasingly despotic Empress Zoe. The Hard Ruler (Danes & Vikings)- With immense wealth at his command, Harald wages a bitter war for the thrones of Denmark and Norway even if it demands a hard-handed rule. But in his pursuit of control, he risks losing the loyalty of his people and becoming the very tyrant he fights to overcome. The Last Viking (Saxons & Vikings) - As omens set the heavens ablaze, Harald fixes his gaze toward England’s throne. Can he forge the empire of his dreams, or will his ambition falter before he rises to become the greatest Viking of them all?
