Icarus: Styx Expansion (DLC)

This expansion is for players who already know ICARUS and want new ground to get lost in and build a base on. There are no straight trails here: the river winds across the whole map, and mountain valleys, arctic paths and desert cliffs keep even experienced prospectors guessing their route. The mood is calm and exploratory, though now and then you will have to think hard about how to get over the next rock. The highlights: - Your first hours go to scouting: shortcuts, climbable rock faces and side paths that are easy to miss. - New creatures, including crocodiles, Komodo dragons and kea parrots, change the encounters you are used to. - 23 missions, some of which reshape the map itself and open short routes to new areas. - More room for bridges, shelters and bases, since the terrain here is more varied and harder to cross. The expansion is delivered as a Steam gift: send your Steam friend invite link and the bot adds you as a friend and sends the game to your account. The base ICARUS game must be on the account. The Styx Expansion doubles the size of Icarus' playable area Centered around a wandering braided river that runs through the length of the map, the Styx region has lain untouched by humans for years. Now the UDA now unlocked access so prospectors can explore this challenging new territory and tackle an array of new Operations and Missions. Styx’s mountain valleys, arctic paths and desert rocks are never straight or straight-forward with branching paths, traversable cliffs and shortcuts to unlock. This challenging terrain forces prospectors to plan their travel or change route unexpectedly, but also provides more creative locations to build bases, bridges and hideouts. The 64 square km Styx map builds on the best elements of the original Olympus map biomes but adds more varied landscapes, scenic views and more natural animal movements. Take on new Open World Operations and Timed Missions This expansion features 19 Operations that can be completed from your Open World base and over 50 SMPL3 missions. Or drop down in any of 23 time-limited Missions. Named Styx, after one of the rivers of the underworld, the river is a natural home to tough new creatures such as Crocodiles and Komodo Dragons, as well as mischievous Kea parrots. The Styx territory has been locked down for several years after an ‘incident’ between the UDA and a group from the African Coastal States. Rumors have circulated ever since, but both parties remain tight-lipped. Spanning forested, arid and arctic biomes, there are reports of unnatural growth rates and mutations in the planet’s wildlife. Now the Lagos Unit has suddenly changed their stance, declaring the previously uninhabitable area as safe for prospecting. Of course, they’ll still take a cut of whatever you find. Proceed with caution and forget what you think you already know about Icarus. The Styx Expansion is available to play from the in-game prospect select screen once purchased.
