This campaign shows the actions of 3./JG 52 it the end of October 1941.

This add-on is for players who already fly the Stalingrad front and want to see the war from the German side. You take the stick of a Bf 109 F-2 as a flight leader in the third Staffel of I./JG 52, operating from forward airfields near Kalinin in October 1941. The mood is tense: the German advance is stalling, and the cold and bad weather make every sortie harder than the last. Why grab it: - The first hours go to getting a feel for the aircraft and your wingmen, and then the missions get noticeably tougher. - You command a single flight, so every pilot counts and you think about your men, not just the target. - Soviet aviation strikes without warning, and the ground attacks mean you keep an eye out even when you are on the ground. - The campaign has 15 missions and takes about six hours on average, so it is easy to finish over a couple of evenings. The very first official historical campaign released for IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles is now remastered and available on Steam: - all aircraft have correct tactical numbers and camo; - there are twice more ground vehicles and artillery batteries and a third more aircraft in the air thanks to an average gaming PC becoming more powerful; - mission briefings are corrected and illustrations are remade from scratch; - all missions are updated and tested in the current version of the game. This single-player campaign tells the story of a difficult time in October 1941 for the German Luftwaffe on the Moscow front. The campaign follows the actions of Luftwaffe Group I./JG 52 who were supporting the tip of the German thrust deep into Russia, flying missions from frontline airfields in the Kalinin area. German forces faced seemingly never ending artillery strikes, attacks from Soviet ground forces and sudden VVS air strikes. The intense combat as well as the tough weather conditions demanded maximum effort from Luftwaffe pilots, foreshadowing the looming collapse of the Operation Typhoon. You get to play the role of commander of the second flight in the third squadron (3./JG 52).
