Onset is an open world Lua scripting sandbox without predefined goals. Choose from hundreds of Lua functions from our Developer Wiki to create your own scripts and gamemodes. Onset is a perfect starting point for beginners interested in learning how to program.

Onset is for people who get bored of ready-made rules and want to decide how the world works themselves. It's a sandbox that starts out completely empty, and everything after that depends on your ideas and a few lines of Lua. The mood is more experimental than polished, with a bit of tinkering in it. What you'll like: - Your first evenings will probably go to spawning a car or helicopter and seeing how it handles in a world without the usual constraints. - You can play solo on localhost or jump into someone else's server already running an odd custom mode. - It isn't tied to one genre: racing one day, a small survival mode the next, because you write the script yourself. - There's also room for your own server with a few hundred players if you want to gather a crowd and show off your idea. The purchase works like this: you send your Steam quick invite link, the bot adds you as a friend and sends the game to your account as a gift. It works with any Steam region. Onset is a scripting sandbox game made from the ground up for multiplayer. Create and host your very own experience in Onset using Lua scripting functions.
