Train Sim World® 5: Mittenwaldbahn: Innsbruck - Garmisch-Partenkirchen Route Add-On (DLC)

This add-on suits players who enjoy slow, careful train driving. The mountain route across the Alps, with steep grades and long tunnels, asks for attention on every stretch, and the 1989 setting adds a nostalgic mood. What to expect: - The first hours go into mastering the 3.8 % grades: you have to plan your traction so you don't lose speed on the climbs. - Viaducts and tunnels change the view every few minutes, so even long runs don't get dull. - The Crocodile locomotive, with its old-fashioned cab and the clicking of contactors, feels very different from modern electric engines. - The line crosses the border between Germany and Austria, so switching between driver and conductor roles is noticeable even in regular runs. The might of machinery makes a molehill out of a mountain - step back into 1989 and embark on the daring climb of TSG’s Mittenwaldbahn in Train Sim World 5. Featuring steep gradients, stunning scenery and the iconic “Krokodil”, embark on a nostalgic adventure between Germany & Austria! Also known as the Karwendelbahn, the Mittenwaldbahn traverses the Alps between Bavaria, Germany, and Tyrol, Austria. Talks of a mountain railway went back as far as the 1880s, although no trains would turn a wheel over the pass until 1912. The line was planned to be electrified from the start, to make tackling the route much easier. Even with electric traction, traversing a mountain range is no small feat for a standard gauge railway. The Mittenwaldbahn features many tunnels and iconic bridges, with incredible ruling gradients as steep as 3.8%. Such lines offer challenge, but also scenic wonder; take in the sights of the peaks and valleys, with the rails rising as high as 1.1 km above sea level. In Train Sim World 5, become a driver or conductor aboard both ÖBB and DBB services. Set in 1989, scale the mountains of Mittenwald in the unique ÖBB 1020 “Krokodil” - known for its distinctive shape and old-school driving style. Turn the control wheel and see the taps moving in the machine room as you transport ski tourists and local freight. Accompanying the croc is the venerable BR 111, a classic that’s capable of climbing for the border with long-distance intercity stock in tow.
