Train Sim World® 5: Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn: Mannheim - Kaiserslautern Route Add-On (DLC)

This route suits players who enjoy calm journeys with scenery more than a race against the timetable. First comes a long straight run across the flat land between Mannheim and Neustadt, then the forest closes in and the train starts winding through narrow valleys toward Kaiserslautern. The mood is unhurried, with a good rhythm as the landscape keeps changing. What you'll like: - Early on, your time goes to getting used to two very different characters of the line: first a run on flat ground, then careful work on curves and grades. - You can play solo, but the trip through these valleys also works well with a friend who watches signals while you call out the stations. - The route feels quite different from typical city lines, with smooth control mattering more than speed records. - You get fast ICE 3M trains, classic BR 111 locomotives and S-Bahn electric units, so you can switch between train characters. This add-on requires the base game Train Sim World 5 on the same account. An historically important mainline, the Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn was built in sections throughout the mid-1800s. The line originally terminated on the western side of the Rhine at Ludswighafen but was quickly extended over the eastern bank to Mannheim, followed eventually by the movement of the former station to create a seamless through line. The line has 2 distinct halves; straight and level tracks rule the way between Mannheim and Neustadt, immediately after which, the tone of the line changes completely. A wall of forest punctuates the start of tight curves and close-up valleys, the rails gradually making their way further west to Kaiserslautern. In Train Sim World 5, become a driver or conductor aboard DB passenger services, and explore the sights of this quaint line. Set in the early 2010s, the route features the newly built third track between Ludswighafen and Limburgerhof, and has ruling speeds of 160 km/h. Enjoy a unique mix of motive power; employ the BR 425 on Rhein-Neckar S-Bahn services, snake along the rails in the ICE 3M, and shuttle along in the classic BR 111. An ensemble of stock also fills in the gaps through multiple timetable layers, making for a jumbled experience on the scenic Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn.
