Valheim suits people who like slowly settling into a harsh world. There are no hand-holding markers at every step: first you learn what is edible, where the nasty creatures hide and how to survive the night, and only then do you build your dream hall and go after bosses. The mood is calm and a little uneasy, like a long trek through northern wilderness. What hooks you: - Early on, your time goes to the basics: craft a stone axe, find ore, figure out how not to starve. Progress shows up fast. - You can build however you like, from a crooked hut by the lake to a long house with carved beams. Buildings actually have to stand up, so placement matters. - Food is not just a checkbox: what you eat affects your combat bonuses and stamina, so cooking becomes part of the game. - You can play solo, but with a friend or two it gets livelier: gathering and boss fights are easier together. Raise Viking longhouses and build bases that offer reprieve from the dangers ahead. Whether you build a small shelter, an entire village or a mountain-side fortress, defence and structural integrity are important, as is decorating it for maximum comfort! As you discover new materials, you will learn new recipes for crafting, building and cooking - all that a Viking might need! The food system is rewarding rather than punishing, granting you boons and benefits depending on what you eat, and is directly tied to the combat system, where your health and stamina might be just the thing that makes a difference between life and death. Community-translated languages In addition to the officially supported languages, Valheim has several community-translated languages. As the name would suggest, these are all translated by fans and members of the community, and the process is frequently ongoing.
