This one is for people who like holding a position rather than waiting for rescue. You are dropped into the suburbs of a European town that has been cut off from the world, and you and up to three friends try to work out where the outbreak started. The mood is grim but a bit unhinged, with rock music and hordes falling faster than you'd expect. What hooks you: - Early on, your time goes to building your base: fences, sandbags, turrets and mines, then watching it all hold up under the pressure of the dead. - It shines most in co-op, when one player holds the gap, another patches up the defenses, and the third pulls the bosses away. - The arsenal ranges from a pump shotgun to flamethrowers and miniguns, and slow motion comes in handy during the tense moments. - There are eight characters and more than a dozen infected types, so no two runs feel quite the same.
